U1.L1: Purposes of Government


Objective: Students will be able to describe the four purposes of government and their importance in order to explain what life would be like without government.

Homework: Students are to complete question 3 from there classwork for each purpose of government. To recap, the purposes of government are: Social Order, Public Services, National Security, and Economic Decisions.

The Beginning of the Year

Welcome Hornets to the first few days of class. Class objectives, presentations, and the podcasts will not be posted until we start to dive into the core content of our classroom--Government. I will, however, make sure to post all policies and procedures so that you can be very knowledgeable of them as they guide us towards 80% every day and passing the HSA.

Sample Class Post

Each and every classroom post will follow the same format, with links to documents on Scribd or GoogleDocs:

Objective: All objectives for the day will be listed, as well as content standards that are being addressed.

Warm-Up: All activities that students must complete for their warm-up will be posted.

Introduction to New Material: This will include Presentations, links to videos, Audio excerpts, and more.

Group Practice Activities List: It is possible that there will be instructional videos that can be linked to for students to access so they can complete the activity at home if they happen to miss class.

Independent Practice Activities: See Group Practice Activities List. Students will also access vocabulary acquisition activities here, as well as complete all independent work using the blog as a guide.

Closing Activities: Students can access a Google Survey, or Survey Monkey Survey in order to complete their exit ticket for the day, including multiple choice questions, ECRs and BCRs.
